Lane Steel was founded by Al Gedeon and Ron Boyd, who joined forces to become business partners. Together, they formed a strong bond and became known as steel brothers.

1984

1984

Kathy Gedeon, the wife of Al Gedeon, joined Lane Steel Company to provide her expertise in accounting.

1988

1988

Paul Gedeon, the son of Al Gedeon, began his career as a salesman and became the fourth employee at Lane Steel Company.

1989

Michael Gedeon, the son of Al Gedeon, began his career as a truck driver.

1990

Lane Steel acquired its first cut-to-length line, marking a significant milestone for the company. This new addition enhanced Lane Steel’s production capabilities and allowed them to better serve their customers with precision-cut steel products.

Lane Steel acquired its first slitter machine. The new addition enhanced Lane Steel’s production capabilities and allowed Lane Steel to provide even better service to their customers.

After Al Gedeon’s retirement, Paul Gedeon assumed the role of President, while Michael Gedeon was appointed as Vice President of Operations.

1997

Richard Zabrowski was appointed as the Vice President of Finance, bringing valuable expertise and leadership to our financial team.

Lane Steel acquired The Octagon Slitter, as part of the ongoing expansion efforts. In addition, the warehouse space was expanded to a total of 70,000 square feet. This strategic investment allowed us to better serve our customers and meet the growing demands of the market.

2002

Lane Steel acquired The Redbud, a state-of-the-art multi-blanking line.

Paul and Michael Gedeon acquired the Lockhart Complex, a sprawling property spanning 22 acres and boasting 440,000 square feet of warehouse space. This strategic investment secured the future growth of Lane Steel, ensuring the company’s continued success and expansion.

A new 50,000 square foot warehouse was obtained specifically for storing coils.

Lane Steel acquired The Stamco, a state-of-the-art cut-to-length line.

2013

Lane Steel successfully expanded its sales operations to the Midwest Territory of the United States.

2016

Lane Steel purchased The Braner, a state-of-the-art slitter.

2017

Lane Steel successfully expanded its sales operations to Eastern Pennsylvania.

2018

Lane Steel expanded its operations by opening a new warehouse in York, Pennsylvania. This strategic move allowed us to better serve our customers in the region and meet the growing demand for our products.

2020

The warehouse in York, Pennsylvania underwent an expansion, boasting an impressive 40,000 square feet of space.

2022

Michael Brenneman was promoted to Vice President of Commercial and oversaw the expansion of the York warehouse to 60,000 square feet.

Paul Gedeon was appointed as the Chairman of Lane Steel, while Michael Brenneman assumed the role of President and CEO. The Red Bud underwent a significant upgrade with the implementation of auto-flat technology. Additionally, Lane Steel successfully secured a 32,000 square foot expansion for their McKees Rocks warehouse.
